The Fish

Payton decided this week that he would like to have a fish as a pet.  I have been researching all week long small aquariums for him and the size of them along with price.  Friday when I got off of work, I went to Petsmart and found the perfect 2 gallon aquarium for him, and a  cute little goldfish to go along with it.  Our poor fish had some troubles though, my niece and Payton were so glad to see it that of course they grabbed the bag with our new fish in it, and accidentally dropped him in the floor from about 31/2 feet off of the ground.  I took the fish into Payton's room and began setting up the tank.  After everything was set up and the fish had been acclimated to the water, we let him out into his new house. : ) Payton of course, had to be the first one to feed his new fish, which he debated on naming 'Ball' or 'Zooma' or 'Norm'... I personally like 'Norm', he decided on 'Ball'.    Last night after we made a trip to town and came back, Payton went in to check on "Ball" and said mommy come here, my fish isn't swimming! Oh NO.... I felt horrible, I already knew his poor fish had probably went to fishy heaven.  I scooped him out of his aquarium and into a disposable cup and tried to feed it, to see if it was still alive... it was  not. So I promised Payton that I would buy him a new fish today, even contemplated going last night while he was asleep to find him a new fish at our local Wal-Mart.  Today after church my mother and I visited Petland where the employees there were incredibly friendly and helpful, made extra effort to make sure we were satisfied with our visit and that we got exactly what we wanted.    I purchased 6 Tetras and a submersible water heater for the aquarium.  Payton was so happy to see them all today and we went through lots extra effort to insure their safety and long livelihood.  I am sure Payton will make a great fishy parent with lots of help from his momma and mimi.  :)
