Loss of a Deputy

Earlier this week, a deputy for the county sheriff's department I work for was directing traffic on a rural road.  A cow had been hit by a car and was lying in the road.  While our deputy was out serving his community, keeping the citizens on the road safe, the injured cow's instincts of fight or flight kicked in and it got up off the road, and attacked him.  Mr. Britton, our deputy, was thrown onto his head on the pavement... he suffered very grave head injuries and yesterday passed away from his injuries.  Our county has suffered a tremendous loss.  Although I did not ever meet deputy Britton myself, friends that knew him say he always laughed and smiled and tried to help everyone he knew.  I cannot imagine how the family of our long serving deputy of 19 years, must feel losing, their father to a cow attack.  Most people more than likely go over what could happen when a criminal maybe pulls a gun, or the possibility of a car crash.. but normally there are not scenarios of cows attacking. This is a very tragic end to a 54 year old man's life. I pray for comfort and strength for the family of Mr. Britton, and also for all of the deputies who had contact with Mr. Britton on a daily basis in the Sheriff's department. Please keep Mr. Britton's children in your prayers, and all of his dear friends at the Sheriff's department.

Lots of prayers for all,
